Support for High Tech Entrepreneurs

Our venture has been in business for 25-years and thus is not a candidate for Venture Capital. However, I have been exposed to Rincon Venture Partners through John Greathouse, who is a member of our Board. John brings an entrepreneur's sensitivity to our Board, in which his suggestions are made in a constructive and encouraging manner. If I were a high-tech entrepreneur in Souther California in need of Venture funding, I would jump at the chance to work with John Greathouse and his Partner Jim Andelman.

We were fortunate to have Rincon lead our first round of financing and participate in the second round as well. From the start, Jim Andelman succeeded in structuring deal terms that aligned the interests of everyone involved, including the founders, management team, and other minority shareholders, so that everyone could focus on what is most important - executing the vision for the business. Rincon has given us the support and freedom we've needed to do just that. It has been invaluable to know that we all share the same path to success.

Small Firm, Strong Partners

I've gotten to know Jim and John quite well and have been impressed. They've got a pretty clear division of labor along their respective areas of expertise - Jim will manage the diligence/deal-making (don't mess with him on number crunching or term sheets - he knows more than you about both) and John will provide the operating/bizdev guidance (his blog is probably the most useful for operating entrepreneurs).

Much less time with Brian, who splits time on the east coast so is less available for face time - don't really have feedback on him.

Disclaimer: They ultimately funded our start-up, so I'm obviously favorably inclined.

Always Helpful

I have met with numerous investors and VCs during my angel round and Jim has been one of the most helpful people I have met. He is always willing to sit down and chat with me about my business and he offers great insights and advice for the road ahead. He is always polite and responsive and he is extremely smart. I truly believe he would be a value-added investor should I be lucky enough to get him interested in my company for the next round.

Rincon led our Series A round and supported us as a follow-on investor through even the most difficult times. I cannot speak too highly of Jim Andelman, who as a board member was always accessible, highly knowledgeable, helpful, and direct. I would recommend Rincon to any company that meets Rincon's investment criteria and is in need of a true investor-partner.
