Not Doing Early Stage Deals

Fund: Plough Penny Partners

Posted by Anonymous on 2008-07-12

PUBLIC:

We were introduced to a partner at Plough Penny, but they came back saying that they were not doing early stage investments due to the uncertain economic environment.

Not sure if this is just their way of saying they weren't interested in the idea, but they also weren't willing to make any introductions to potential angel investors...

Nothing Available From This Password Protected Site

Fund: Plough Penny Partners

Posted by owen@highvoltagebeverages.com on 2007-09-03

PUBLIC:

I read the comments others posted, and then thought I'd take a look myself, first hand. But that's impossible as I found out when I clicked PloughProfits link. You can't get to the site without first phoning in and being given a password. Evidently you have to pass the phone "audition" first. (Which I didn't) The good news is that I called on Labor Day weekend and someone answered the phone. But PloughPenney needs to take advantage of the fact that there's this thing called the Internet and that people actually use it to determine who it makes sense to call. Imagine that"

Jud "Gives Good Meeting"

Fund: Plough Penny Partners

Posted by Anonymous on 2007-03-19

PUBLIC:

Jud is very charming and personable, but doesn't know how to be helpful to startups. Investors ought to know that a quick "no" is much better than a long maybe. We had a great pitch meeting, and he made encouraging comments, he said he'd get back to us and then "poof". He disappeared for good. So much wasted time...

Solid

PUBLIC:

For small investments ($50 to $250K) on the East Coast, Plough Penny may be a great fit, though they will not lead.
