Good Experience For A First Time Entrepreneur

    Fund: Ignition Partners

    PUBLIC:

John Connors spent an hour or so with me after I made contact via an introduction. As my partners and I consequently discovered, we were pretty early in the development of our commercialization strategy, but John kindly gave feedback and asked intelligent questions. He had clearly read our plan. I would say John fits the VC stereotype as far as offering polite yet indirect feedback. Ultimately we weren't the kind of opportunity Ignition was looking for, but John provided helpful insight and stayed in contact after the meeting to offer further help. He helped us up the entrepreneurship learning curve. I would definitely contact him again with an appropriate opportunity.

Good Depending Upon Which Partner Gets Invovled

    Fund: Ignition Partners

    PUBLIC:

We met several times and they gave us the run around. Steve Hooper was good and gave helpful feedback. Adrian was a nice guy, but a terrible listener and not up to date on the actual happeneings in wireless. He reads the news, but, we felt he was way off base with his perceptions of the actual happenings. Having said that, if you can get Ignition to invest, they have a good newtork and have a managed some decent exits.

I'm unsure if it's just some partners but they take a seemingly long time to reply. Some 2 months later.

    PUBLIC:

They have a very high opinion of themselves, but shouldn't be VCs. A bunch of ex-Microsoft folks, they simply are not entrepreneurial and know nothing about starting or growing a business. Not well regarded by other VCs.
