Slow but Sure

We've met Rudy and Lauranne several times, both pitching and in the context of entrepreneurship meetings in Austin. We've made incremental progress, and they have been instrumental bringing other VCs to talk. They are small but well connected. Syndication is not a dirty word in larger financial circles. Syndication is what G51 is about. It takes longer but I think they are going to get there with us.

We have pitched G51 twice and Rudy is one of the nicest guys I've ever met around the pitch table. However, my experience is that they don't get the software sector.

G51 is very small -- its first three funds were under $10M. However, they say they are working on the next two funds and they will be bigger. From conversations around town, they typically invest up to $500k in seed or series A and then pull perhaps another $2M from other VCs.
The best thing about G-51 is they truely do early stage companies...something sorely lacking in Austin.

G51 incubated our company and provided the much needed support (financial/psychological and intellectual) and day to day interaction while we got our business of the ground. A great group that is really there to help entrepreneuers.

Rudy Garza and his team at G51 Capital are based in Austin, TX and offer a great alternative to Austin Ventures for Texas based start-ups. Rudy and team gave quick answer on their interest and followed through with an investment. During due-diligence, Rudy introduced us to several high-value potential board members and advisors. He also introduced to top tier VC's in Bay Area, one of which joined our seed round investment.
