Was an existing investor when I came in to one of their companies. Partner changed and it was seamless. Internal partnership politics not visible to me and I looked for them. Supportive, helpful, brought in help during exit.

Carl is an a Player, However No New Funds

It is public knowledge that EPVC has suspended efforts to raise their next fund, which impacts interactions with entrepreneurs. Carl Eibl is clearly an A player trying to make the best of the current circumstances. Carl is a highly intelligent executive and a valuable contributor to any board of directors. I would welcome the opportunity to work with him again.

Carl is making some tough choices. He is working hard on the fund. I respect him for continuing to work hard on it when he got involved later in the stage of this fund. It's tougher when most of the investments were already committed. Character is not about investment returns but rather the choices you make. I have been impressed that he is working on their portfolio. Initially very disapointed, I have changed my mind to being an advocate because they are 1) working the portfolio when they could do something else (like other Venture firms) and 2) they are returning investor money rather then holding it.

These Guys are Not Tech Investors

PUBLIC:

They have one tech partner, Bob Conn, who is winding down their investments. That's not what they say but actions are louder then words. I WOULD NEVER INVEST IN THEM AS AN LIMITED PARTNER!! They protect management fees at the expense of their investments and LP's. They exit investments but do not return the money to their LP's. If that what they do now they are short timers. If you're a potential LP....run away fast.
