Great Support System for Apsmart

Fund: DN Capital

Posted by Rahul Powar on 2010-05-25

PUBLIC:

DN definitely care about every company they invest in; they aim for win-win outcomes which is a great starting point for the relationship. They have an extensive network and are very generous about making it work for the business. After we closed, Nenad made office and staff resources available to us which was very helpful at that stage of the organisation.

Looong Pitch Cycle

Fund: DN Capital

Posted by ukwebstartup on 2009-08-10

PUBLIC:

Met with both Nenad and Steve. Agree with others that Nenad seems highly influenced by others outside of DN. After our pitch he asked lots of outsiders for opinions on our model. He only invited us back after positive feedback from others. Steve seems less focused on others' opinions but seems to form them very quickly -- whether they are right or wrong.

Dealing with Steve Has Been Very Valuable

Fund: DN Capital

Posted by Ilya Nikolayev on 2008-03-03

PUBLIC:

We closed our Series A with DN Capital and Steve has been very beneficial for the company. He has made key introductions, is helping us assemble a strong advisory board, and has been instrumental in tweaking the company's vision. We highly recommend dealing with Steve (and DN Capital) and look forward to a productive relationship with the company.

Extremely Helpful!

Fund: DN Capital

Posted by fgrinda on 2007-12-14

PUBLIC:

Despite being relatively small investors in my company, Nenad and Steve have been the most helpful of all my investors in terms of identifying partners, helping with the Series B, etc. I highly recommend working with them!

Good Spirit

Fund: DN Capital

Posted by Gilles Babinet on 2007-12-12

PUBLIC:

At Eyeka, we chose to partner with DN Capital because we liked their attitude and entrepreneurial spirit. They have already helped us tremendously, working with us to improve the company strategy and business model, and in making key employee introductions. We look forward to our continual involvement with DN, as we seek to expand to international markets

Passionate, Supportive Investors

Fund: DN Capital

Posted by Maurice O'Connor on 2007-12-03

PUBLIC:

I have been CFO and more recently COO of Jacobs Rimell Limited. We have been a portfolio company for all of my four years with the company. During this time I have found DN Capital to be supportive investors with the two joint Managing Partners forming a very effective pairing. Steve Schlenker is logical, numbers orientated and detailed, Nenad Marovac is creative, a professional networker and promoter of our company, very ready to introduce us into partnering and sales opportunities. The combination of both has proved very effective. Nenad sits on our Board and has an excellent attendance and contribution record. Both are passionate about driving our success. They are supported by a strong team, Cedric Sellin and Andy Choi. Cedric especially has been supportive and helpful with different initiatives.

Schlenker is Ok

Fund: DN Capital

Posted by Anonymous on 2007-08-23

PUBLIC:

I must say, Steve Schlenker of DN is a pretty decent guy. We pitched them and liked them very much. They were responsive and really got our model. In the end we wet another route entirely, going with a strategic partner, but Schlenker has hung in there with us all along the road and has been extremely helpful. Have never met Nenad, but Cedric Sellin is a very bright guy and and Andy Choi is very helpful and bright as well. I highly recommend DN.

As a Portfolio Company

Fund: DN Capital

Posted by Jonathan Pell on 2007-06-24

PUBLIC:

I was CFO and now CEO of Datanomic a portfolio Company of DN Capital. Therefore I have for the last 4 years been heavily involved in raising capital and interfacing with our investors.
I have found DN Capital approachable and user friendly. They have considerable network which they put to good use in respect of Datanomic. DN Capital also spot opportunities of cross fertilization within their portfolio itself and is leading to some useful engagements for Datanomic.
Steve Schlenker has been a very useful sounding board in all my roles at Datanomic CFO/COO and now CEO, has made available resources such as staff and offices to assist in the growth of Datanomic.

Lack of Point of View

Fund: DN Capital

Posted by Anonymous on 2007-03-20

PUBLIC:

Very easily swayed by the opinions of other portfolio companies witrh regard to investment in other companies in the same sector. This is a bit discheartening and narrow-minded if their investment decisions are biased by the opinions of others they've backed. Their point of view should be more objective.

Difficult to Work With

Fund: DN Capital

Posted by Y2K on 2007-03-16

PUBLIC:

The two guys are difficult to work with - this is consistent with everyone I've met whose come across them. One of the medium sized but well known funds in Europe. Only one member of the team has any operating experience within a start up environment. Both founders whilst have respected backgrounds in private equity view venture capital purely as smart investing which may be a turn off for some budding entrepreneurs who prefer a fund willing to go the extra mile in building their company.
