My info on these guys is a little old
Pros: They were willing to look at seed and early stage ventures, Alain can be a good mentor to a beginning VC, strong ties to Draper Laboratories and MIT were resources, they were trying to step out of MIT shadow and do a wider variety of deals
Cons: Disproportionate number of companies are MIT or Draper Spin-outs, due diligence being done by students and academics at MIT, Rana's power plays distracted from the pitch, they didn't have very much in the way of internal reasources to evaluate the breadth of sectors they were willing to look at.
In short, if you are spinning something out of MIT or Draper technology, Navigator may be (would have been - do they have any money")worth a look for pre-series A financing. If not, they still may be OK to talk to - just exercise caution

I am familiar with this fund and Alain specifically. He has always provided great advice and is a direct straight shooter. Even though the fund is not investing, people like Alain have a lot to offer regarding advice in fundraising and general business operations.

These guys have no money and Gupta's resume is so weak that I find it truly amazing that he is employed ANYWHERE...
