Christian Borcher is Great to Work With

I've raised a pretty significant amount of money from double digit number of firms in the valley. Christian is one of the best VCs I have had the pleasure to work with. Christian fundamentally respects the entrepreneur. I think he believes that entrepreneurs are the ones who create the value and are living and dying with the company. Every interaction I have with Christian makes me feel that he respects what I am trying (but sometimes failing) to do.
More tangibly, he is incredibly accessible, he is respectful and doles out opinions in a very measured way. He is a source of positive energy in every meeting even when things aren't going well. He has been 100% honest with me in the decade that I have known him. I would work with him in any capacity in the future.

Christian Borcher was on the board of my previous company. We went with Cardinal specifically to get him involved. He is very engaged and attentive.
I recently pitched a new idea to Christian and although he wasn't interested he came back quickly and told me so - with good reasons that I understood and believed.

In my experience, Cardinal VC have been very engaged, supportive and mindful of the opportunity at hand. I'm going to guess they're probably the first VC their portfolio CEOs call when something is going sideways. They provide a 'we're in this together' level of support.
Entrepreneurs: this is a newer fund as compared to some of the names you've read about. They know that, so they work hard and work fast.

I have been working with Christian Borcher and the Cardinal team since early 2005. They have been a very supportive group throughout the lows and highs of my business. Christian continues to bring fresh ideas to the table and never hesitates to make valuable intros.

I worked very closely with Cardinal for several years in one of their portfolio companies. Specifically, I worked with Joyce Chung, Eric Dunn and Christian Borcher. I found cardinal to be extremely good to work with and highly supportive of the company and executives. They were not pushovers by any means- they asked the difficult questions when necessary and expected management to be highly accountable. Everyone at cardinal was always very responsive and prompt in reacting to the company's needs. Quite notably, they were always willing to roll up their sleeves and assist management in solving difficult problems. Also, during the initial funding with them and in subsequent fundings, they were exceedingly reasonable during the due diligence process and during negotiation of terms. I found them even keeled and very respectful of the entrepreneurs/management . Very high integrity individuals and I would very gladly work with them again. Word is that they've done very well in picking companies and have good returns over last few years. No arrogance at this fund.

Christian and Cardinal team have been a great support to our business both financially and with strategic business support. I would highly recommend any entrepreneur with a solid project to consider Cardinal as your VC partner.

I am not even sure Cardinal is in business anymore. After several years in the VC business, I contacted Christian to share with him my new start-up, and got shuffled into the EA for scheduling. He was "booked" three months out! Ok, so I put a tickler on my schedule for 6 weeks later and tried again. Still no luck - the EA was working harder than he was trying to get a meeting set-up, but he was too booked to look at new deals. At this point, I'm just playing a game with them ... I'd never take their money if this is the kind of firm they are. You really have to wonder whether they are investing at all.

Cardinal (Joyce Chung) pulled out of a deal literally the day before closing after agreeing to every aspect of the deal. Fortunately the other two firms involved stepped up and took their pro-rata and the offering closed as scheduled.
