I have run two Zone portfolio companies: one that failed in the bubble because we did a bad bridge loan to our Series C round (lesson learned: NEVER do bridge loans in an early stage company, even if you have a signed term sheet), and one that is still going. I have to say Frank and Darius were fantastic through the whole process. They were extremely supportive in the worst of times - both during the bursting of the bubble, and post Sept. 11th when we were raising a round (it closed in October 2001). It might be tough to get funded by them, but once you are a portfolio company, they give you all the support you need. The true test of your investors comes when things don't go well (which is inevitable at some point in a start-up's life).

I've had zone as an investor for two years now. They are VERY entrepreneur friendly. They don't try to hijack your company, they provide the time and support you need, but don't make you take your eye off the business at hand. Highly recommend.

These guys came up in the bubble and Frank is the only one left. Nothing fresh, poor communication and execution.

Many meetings, lots of "interest", but a classic lesson of if they don't say yes, it means no!
