I pitched to Chip several months ago. He ended up passing on us. Since then I have pitched 12 to 15 VCs and the there is a similar pattern that emerges: Most VC will listen to your pitch, then tell you what will happen next, which usually involves them saying they will let you know their disposition in some way in the next week or so, then they never contact you again. At some level one can accept this given VCs see so many plans a year. However, my family taught me to practice basic good manners. If you say you will contact someone, it is only polite to do so. If you don't plan to follow up with them, just say so so expectations are appropriately set.
Anyway, with 15 meetings a hindsight, I felt Chip was engaged, did not waste our time, told us his concerns, and followed up to pass, as he promised to follow up.
I can't speak to him as a VC because I have not been a portfolio company of his, but I have known him for some years and I find him smart, polite and a practicer of good manners.
It was nice to experience it for a change.

I pitched Chip and they are not interested at this time. The steps to getting something on the table were clearly laid out and I received solid and relevant criticism. I am going to approach them again once I have better data to back up my business. I did not meet with the other partners.

This team, and particularly Greeley, were very efficient and respectful before, during, and after our visit. Very clear and honest feedback. We didn't get the deal, but we didn't waste any time and were told very clearly why the deal didn't fit their model.

We pitched our idea to them and had a very welcome attitude and were clear about their investment criteria. We didn't fit quite in their niche, but have kept the relationship open.

I was a colleague of Jeff Bussgang at a previous company. He is competent, insightful, and strategic in his thinking. I have not worked with him at IDG. However, I can provide a strong personal recommendation for his experience as an entrepreneur and his integrity.

I know the IDG guys quite well, and respect them all.
David Aronoff distinguishes himself not just at that firm (which has a high bar), but in the Boston VC community generally, which has its share of superstars.
Even though he is not on my board, he has been responsive, helpful, friendly, and, perhaps most important of all, completely candid about what works and what doesn't in my sector.
He'll be the first guy to see my next business plan, already in preparation.

We're a reasonably new portfolio company, and thus far our experience has been very positive. Jon Karlen has been very hands-on and has had plenty of good advice and ideas to contribute. Kate was fantastic when it came to providing some PR support.

I had a good experience with IDG, despite my deal being a "pass". Michael Greeley and Jeff Bussgang were totally professional and set expectations every step of the way. I hope to have the opportunity to work with them as part of a deal some day.

My experience with IDG has been fantastic. Jeff Bussgang, our lead, is a smart, competent, completely transparent and egoless former entrepreneur. A breath of fresh air, focused not only on shareholder value, but also equally on management vision and perspective.
The post deal closing and execution support has been phenomenal. Not intrusive and exceptionally supportive. I have been blown away at how much they have helped on the marketing front. Kate Castle there is amazing. She is very well seasoned and super helpful. Again, super smart and completely ego-less. She has helped write job descriptions, screen candidates, hire a PR agency, etc.
The all-partner meeting was tough, but fair and everyone showed up on time with very relevant questions that had shown they did their homework. Another breath of fresh air. They were clear with their needs upfront and reasonable negotiators down the line.
I would highly recommend anyone to work with this firm and particularly those mentioned above.
