PUBLIC:

Opinions on HLM seem pretty split, depending on the partner. I agree with this. We pitched them for something in life sciences. Two partners in the room, two very different experiences and responses at the same time in the same room. Not a good clear path forward for us, but a lot depends on the partner (as in every other VC firm on the board).

Rude - Obnoxious - Uninformed - Self Impressed
Rushed us through the technical side of the presentation, as "he knew all about it" and he could teach us a thing or two, "I am an MD you know.." Half way into the meeting it comes to pass that he is totally confused as how the device actually works, and which specialty is the customer! Turns his confusion into a debate on the merits of the technology, and how we have an unclear presentation!
His follow up diligence consisted of badmouthing or questioning the caliber of the management team.

I have only met Al and Peter peripherally, but these two sounded like great guys intellectually. They showed considerable depth in their thoughts as was apparent in their questions.
