We pitched all of the partners at Prism after been introduced by another entrepreneur who had made them a great deal of money. They seemed to be very excited about what we were doing and asked it to run it past the CTO of one of the largest companies in the US. Told us if this CTO liked the idea they'd invest. THEY set up the meeting with us and the CTO, we pitched him and he was ready to buy as soon as we had product. Had a follow up call with Prism partners and the CTO where CTO reiterated what he told us to Prism. Went to follow up with Prism (taking them at their word that they'd invest if the response was favorable) - NEVER received a return phone. We tried for months and never heard a word back from them.

Met with Will Kohler, he expressed a lot of interest in our company. Then he passed us off to Bong who set meeting, then cancelled at the last minute (last minute board meeting? Comon...) and rescheduled for 2 weeks later. Missed that meeting as well, and set for 3 weeks after that. Still haven't met with Bong. If they are interested, they have a weird way of showing it...

Pitched Paul O'Brien a few months ago found him to be intelligent, asked many good questions and provided some good insight. The pitch from the deck devolved into an informal question/answer, which was good. Ultimately he wanted to see more execution with regards to customers and revenue and was upfront about it. Wanted to keep tabs on our progress going forward.

They are a joke in healthcare. Gordie Nye especially. He doesn't have any domain knowledge, yet gives all kinds of 'expert' opinions.

He was too busy checking his Blackberry, never even heard a word of our pitch. He reached a completely inaccurate understanding of our problem/solution/market, but didn't veer from it since he was too busy talking (very rudely) to actually heard what we had to say.

Will Kohler was personable and smart, but very aggressive to progress through a deal. Didn't close with Prism, and not sure of whether we would want to. Jury out on whether they can really add the value they say, it was never demonstrated in all the discussions.

If you are meeting with them for a direct to consumer, mobile or Web 2.0 solution, do not waste your time. We were referred by a very reputable firm and we clearly laid out our position in the market, early stage and target market, and they quickly asked us to come in to meet.
We pitched and they were rude and had a lack of the basics of mobile and Web 2.o.

Be careful in dealing with Prism. Your experience may be very different depending on which partner(s) you end up with. We had great experiences with John Brooks, who is a class act. Others, not so much.

We recently closed a seed round from Prism. My company is currently in private development within the consumer Internet sector and the team at Prism really understood and had some insightful comments. They have also made related investments in the sector. Some of their other investments will also be helpful to my startup. I was introduced to Prism through Bong Koh, who is a solid VC at the firm and really understands consumer Internet. Will Kohler and Gordie Nye are the other partners directly involved with Prism's investment in my company. They both are solid VCs that understand consumer Internet and I know will give us great insights and open up their contacts to us as well. Overall, very positive experience with the firm. Deal was done relatively quickly as well and they focused on the aspects of the company and strategy that really mattered. If you have a consumer Internet company and are looking for investors that understand the space, can move relatively quickly, have related investments in the sector and have great contacts, you should definitely approach Prism.

I have known Jim Counihan for a number of years now and have pitched him on a few deals. Jim always took my calls and was willing to help even if my deal didnt fit his portfolio. Good guy to know in the North East VC world.

Team seems very driven and aggressive to make this relatively small VC a rising star. Upside is very supportive of entrepreneurs as they try to make a name, downside is a lack of internal process slows down deal execution.
