Easy to Work with and Extremely Helpful

Fund: NextStage Capital

Posted by chlow on 2008-04-05

PUBLIC:

The first time I pitched to Dan and Rob, we were unsuccessful but the experience was pleasant and quick. We were OK with their rejection, especially a fast one. It saves time.

We understood their reasons and found them understandable from their point of view. But nevertheless, they were open-minded that they gave us a second look a few months later after we made more progress, and the second time, they agreed to invest. This time, they felt an increased comfort with the team we have and they also got more informed about the idea and the market positioning despite that we were still kind of too early stage for them.

The process was quite transparent and expedient in both cases. It just makes it easy to have a discussion.

Since then, they have been extremely helpful in their suggestions, business referrals, help me with interviewing my VP of Sales and Marketing (which TWC recruited for FREE) and has been generally helpful when I asked for help especially when my management team was still quite thin.

Quick, Honest Review

Fund: NextStage Capital

Posted by Noteware on 2008-01-22

PUBLIC:

We pitched Dan and Rob and worked with them through some preliminary due diligence. In the end, it wasn't a NextStage deal because they don't have expertise in our industry and didn't feel that they could get it in a timely manner. Dan gave me a quick no, which I really appreciated. He clearly takes a golden rule approach to life: treat others as you want to be treated.

Next Stage Engages...

Fund: NextStage Capital

PUBLIC:

NextStage Capital is a group that engages early and puts in capital at the seed / early stage phase of a company's growth. We found they're process to be agile, forthright, and consistent. Post investment, they've been consistent in their attention to details and support of the company - and provided a powerful rolodex of connections and relationships. Their connection with TWC for head hunting has been extremely valuable as well.
