I worked with Granite through the summer of '09 from pitch to term sheet. This is a remarkable group of people who were professional, inquisitive and thoughtful. While they didn't initially know the space well, they clearly saw the opportunity, and spent time investigating our operations, our people, and of course the market.
We met mostly with Chris McKay, however we met on multiple occasions with just about everyone at Granite. Each person was professional and courteous, and most importantly, they really worked hard to get to "yes." It's very easy for a VC to get to "no", but it's hard to get to "yes". Granite’s team did their work to get to ‘yes’.
We had choices between larger funds and even one with, perhaps, a stronger name, but Granite kept rising to the top based on our selection criteria.
