Went Smoothly, Good Investor

Fund: DoCoMo Capital, Inc.

Posted by plibin on 2009-09-21

PUBLIC:

We had a good experience with DoCoMo Capital.

Rakesh Sood reached out to us, as we were starting our round. We came in and pitched to Rakesh, Daisuke Minamide and Yasuhiro Mita. Daisuke became our main point of contact. Their due diligence was thorough but fairly quick. They co-invested with another VC. There were no surprises and they were quite patient even when we had to delay a few steps to accommodate our other investors. Daisuke has since been quite helpful with detailed introductions to NTT DoCoMo and other Japanese firms.

If you have a mobile-related product, it makes a lot of sense to talk to DoCoMo. I don't think they want to lead rounds, but they're a great co-investor.
