Rakesh Sood

Fund: DoCoMo Capital, Inc.

Posted by Anonymous on 2009-05-03

PUBLIC:

We got introduced to Rakesh Sood at DoCoMo Capital. He had us come in right away (within a day of being introduced to us) as he was leaving for Japan the next week. We had to re-organize our schedule to accomodate him. But we thought we should do what we can to help with their time.

We pitched our idea to him. He had also brought two of his Japanese technical advisors with him who were busy taking notes throughout the meeting and had quite a few technical questions at the end (the answers to which were added to the notes). They said they were interested in hearing more and would get back to us after pitching to their partners in Japan (they even asked us for a copy of our slides that they could use to explain to their partners).

The bad part was that they never got back to us. Repeated pings (emails and voicemail messages) were left un-answered. We personally find Rakesh Sood's behavior downright bordering on the un-professional. Our advice would be to avoid them. Our perception seems to be that they are a front organization that filters ideas and feeds them to technical teams in DoCoMo. Lord knows what they do with these ideas.
