They have focused on new media and Internet for a long time and know this space better than any one I've ever encountered. They're also unique because they have strong networks in Europe. If you're doing something in another space, then I wouldn't bother trying to get their attention.
I've worked with BV on 2 companies over the last 10 years, most recently as a member of the senior management of one of their consumer Internet portfolio companies. Mathias was on the board and was incredibly helpful in building and selling the company. I've been in M&A banking and corporate development in my previous life for 10 years. Mathias comes across as low key, but I've rarely come across a more savvy deal maker. He's also a great strategist and operates with the highest integrity. I would no doubt work with them again on any of my ventures.
