I have met with Jim Sullivan and Jim Caccavo, who invited me up to pitch, despite our deal being well below their target level of investment. They were up front about it, as well as their continuing interest in our space. They are good, insightful and honest people. My expectations in terms of getting funded at that point were low, yet they were attentive, engaged, and also frank in their assessment. I have maintained contact as much because I value their insight as for any other reason, and they are willing to share it. Calls and emails are always returned. If/when we position ourselves more in their sweet spot, I would not hesitate to bring our deal to them first.
