I was a cofounder of a company that went through 2 rounds of financing with Partech led by Nicolas, and we exited with an acquisition. Nicolas had been an excellent board member and really had the interest of the entrepreneurs in mind because he had been an entrepreneur before, understood their needs and dynamics. When we were deciding whether to go forward with the M&A, while other VCs were pushing us not to take the deal, pushing us to hold out for longer to swing for the fences, Nicolas sided with the founders because he understood that it was the founders' first success, and securing that success and the first pot of gold is much more important than turning the company into Google (with the possibility of losing everything on the way.)
As an entrepreneur, I really appreciated Nicolas taking our benefit into consideration, instead of pushing us to take higher risk than were comfortable in. (Well, it was a good deal in the end for our VCs too, even though it's not a 20x return.)
