If You Like Sincere, Genuine Folks, Talk to These Guys

I like these guys. Very polite, very sincere, and totally not like what you'd expect given that all the partners have been around forever. They're one of the few fund managers I've found who say exactly what they think and you don't have to try to find hidden meaning in what they are saying.

It is almost unnerving how honest and straight up these guys are and by straight-up, i don't mean the type who try to skewer you for the heck of it like a lot of VCs do. They ask questions that are genuine questions; they're not trying to ask you one thing and get an answer for something else (something I've never figured out why most VCs think it's somehow the "smart" way to operate.)

I know that sounds silly, but it makes all the difference in the world. Even after having them on our board for the longest time, we never have to worry about being "optically" correct -- we're straight up with them, and their straight up with us. It's a remarkably liberating feeling not having to watch every word you say in a meeting.
